Axtellustration is Jason E. Axtell, a professional educator and freelance graphic illustrator from Virginia who enjoys working with the aesthetics and methods associated with both traditional and digital media.

He has contributed to a variety of publications, including the comic adaptation of the Family Guy cartoon series by Devil’s Due Publishing, and the graphic novels “Wild Ocean” and “Colonial Comics: New England 1620-1750.” He self-published and illustrated “Unky the Duck” as well as “Strays ‘N Gates,” a collection of the serialized comic strip, written by Barry Kaufman and originally published by Savannah Morning News and Bluffton Today. He also illustrated “The Apprehension of Owen Sullivan” for the anthology “Colonial Comics: New England 1750-1775,” and “Act of God” for Matt Dembicki’s “Redistricted.”

 

Jason continues to work as an illustrator and designer and regularly attends numerous comic conventions (see below for current line-up). He also hosts weekly open drawing sessions and displays in the occasional gallery exhibition. He studied illustration at Virginia Commonwealth University, and earned a Master’s of Fine Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design.
